*The Hunters’ Hockey Tale*
On a midweek night, the clock struck six,
The Hunters gathered, ready for kicks.
At Wilberforce Road, with dreams in our eyes,
Facing Cambridge Uni, a chance to rise.
No goalie in sight for the rival team,
Like a sweet gift wrapped up in a dream.
Lou, Amy, and Paula danced through the fray,
Dominating the pitch, come what may.
But oh! Cambridge struck first, much to our woe,
With Stacey in goal, putting on quite the show.
Two quick goals fell, like rain from the sky,
But our spirits stayed high, we’d give it a try.
Then Cora took off, a sight to behold,
Through defenders she dashed, so brave and so bold.
With a flick of her stick, she sent the ball flying,
All jaws hit the ground, and left Cambridge crying!
Emily, Hannah, and Maria, our crew,
Won short corners like magicians, it’s true.
Then Amy stepped up, with two goals in sight,
Smashing the ball home twice, what a glorious night!
Our defenders were fierce, with Lisa and Jade,
Pam and Bev working hard, their efforts displayed.
They fought off the attackers, with skill and with grace,
But Cambridge was crafty; they’d sneak in a place.
Three goals later, we were left wanting more,
Though the final tally showed a five to three score.
Player of the Match, in a twist most divine,
Cora and Amy, our stars, how they shine!
As laughter subsided and the night drew to close,
The Hunters stood tall, in victory’s prose.
Here’s to more matches, more fun on the way,
With spirit and teamwork, we’ll brighten each day!
